Ciara is joining a growing number of stars who are continuing their education with Harvard.
The singer shared on Instagram Monday that she got accepted into the Ivy League School’s Business of Entertainment, Media and Sports program.
“I always dreamt of going to college, but by God’s grace, my music career took me on a path that I’m so thankful for. This week I got accepted into Harvard! Words cannot describe my excitement! Thank you @anitaelberse for a once in in a lifetime opportunity to attend @Harvard BEMS. #WhyNotHER,” the singer captioned a photo of her posing in a Harvard sweatshirt.
The singer will participate in the popular program from the Harvard Business School where she’ll “develop and execute more effective business strategies,” according to the website. The move is a smart one, considering the singer has launched her own label, management and entertainment company in recent years.
Ciara’s session in the Business of Entertainment, Media, and Sports program will begin May 29 and run through June 1. According to the website, it costs $10,000 to attend. That fee covers the cost of tuition, books, case materials, accommodations, and most meals.
Most HBS continuing education programs have no formal educational requirements. However, the selective admission process is based on “professional achievement and organizational responsibilities,” the website notes.
Many fans delighted in CiCi’s news.
“Cici is there anything you cant do?..angels are real.God bless i know your parents are soooo.proud.”
“Congrats love!!!!!”
“You are amazing @ciara!!!!”
Even Ciara’s husband, Russell Wilson, chimed in to share his pleasure in the acceptance.
However, others soon swooped in to squash the happiness. Several dismissed Ciara’s educational pursuits by noting she has the funds to attend HBS and stated it’s the path many celebs have decided to take in recent years. Stars like Tyra Banks and Swizz Beatz are among those who have obtained a certificate from the program.
“Yeah, it’s called Harvard money 🙄”
“Please that’s not hard to do with ya celebrity status.”
“Correction, she is actually taking a 3-day course there that virtually anyone with $10K to spare can take. It’s very misleading of her to say she ‘got accepted into Harvard’ 😂”
“Jeez…I know their ACTUAL alum must be pissed with all these celebrity acceptances. Watering down the value of the Harvard/Ivy League brand. Oh well 🤷🏽♀️”
Still, several fans raced to defend Ciara.
“Always that one rotten apple 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ can’t u just be happy for her instead of being salty peanut.”
“Bitter and jealous. Damn let this black woman live!”
