Son of T.I.’s Late Sister Precious Harris Says Her Death Created Opening for Nephew and Rapper to Reconcile after 12 Years

Although the recent death of T.I.‘s sister was ostensibly devastating for the Harris family, it apparently restored a few relationships between family members, including the rapper and his nephew.

Precious Harris passed away in February after suffering from an asthma attack and car accident. Her death saddened the “Troubleman” rapper and his family, who still offer up devotional posts to his sister from time to time.

The 66-year-old also left behind three children, including two daughters Kayama Chapman, Avis Chapman-Reese, and a son Kareem “Plug” Chapman, who apparently renewed his relationship with his uncle T.I. following his mother’s death.

On Tuesday, March 5, Kareem Chapman posted a photo of himself and T.I. at his mother’s repast on March 2 and expressed how they’ve mended their kinship after not talking for over 10 years.

“Nephew/Unc born 2 months and 5 days apart, growing up me and @troubleman31 had a bond tighter than a babies grip on a piece of candy, then life happened,” Kareem Chapman wrote on Instagram. “Situations pushed him to the streets as teens, I was blessed with a little more structure and chose sports.”

However in 2007, Chapman said he’d hit a “roadblock” in his life and went to his uncle for a job. T.I. hired him as his personal assistant, but the two had a “miscommunication” which led to the comedian being fired and the two not speaking for 12 years.

“My mother’s passing has taught me that life is short and family is all you have at the end of the day. … I’m happy we were able to finally bury the bulls–t and come together bc at the end of the day thats what @preciousharris1913 cared about the most.”

Chapman’s post drew reactions from fans who were happy to see him and T.I. rekindle their relationship.

” Not only your mom would want this but God loves when we bury our differences and forgive each other n move on. God bless y’all 💯💯👑.”

“She’s sooooooooooo happy right now she’s crying tears of joy. GOD BLESS YOU BOTH! Y’all make it happen please tomorrow ain’t promised 😘.”

“Sorry it took such a loss for y’all to get pass the fu–ery. But it’s great to see Black men mature past misunderstandings & miscommunications. 💪🏾💯.”

The “Live Your Life” artist has yet to respond to his nephew’s heartfelt post, but the two appear to be back on good terms.
