Steve Harvey Gives Hilarious Reason for Why He Isn’t’ Fit to be a Pastor, But Some Miss the Joke

Steve Harvey is a veteran comic, but a pastor he is not. And there’s a good reason for that.

The host of “Steve” explained why that is as he addressed an audience member’s question about how she can get her pastor husband to stop having their grandchildren visit so often.

“I understand where he comin’ from,” the host began on the Monday, March 4, episode of the daytime talk show. “He’s a pastor, so, he got to go visit the sick and pray for people. I be wanting to give pastor’s advice too.Β If I was a pastor β€” this why I’m probably not a pastor and that’s probably why He’ll never call me, ’cause I don’t listen goodΒ β€” you ain’t got to go to the hospital to see everybody. Have the nurse send you they files. If it look like they ain’t gon’ make it, what is you goin’ down there for?

“Only go down there to visit people that’s 50/50,” Harvey continued as the audience erupted in laughter. “This why I’m not gon’ be no pastor, ’cause I’m only coming to visit people that’s 50/50. There’s a 50 percent chance that you might make it. Then I got something to pray for.”

Not only was the audience rolling at the remark, so were those who viewed the “Hey Steve” segment online.

“Steve Steve Steve πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ™πŸΎπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚”

“THIS Stuff right here, this why Steve is THE KING of comedyπŸ’•..somebody send Steve my file I’m 50/50 right about now!πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚”

“πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚Damyum Steve You Savage”

“My best guy right here. @iamsteveharveytv Comedian extraordinaire πŸ™ŒπŸΎπŸ™ŒπŸΎπŸ™ŒπŸΎ”

Yet despite even Harvey making it clear the remark was a joke, some didn’t quite see the humor in what he said.

“Nah that is wrong…you can go to the hospital to pray for him/her no matter the situation. Pray for the family and Drs n nurses. #nomatterwhat.”

“Sorry Steve you’re not getting any younger so you better start listening to your pastor.”

“Really Steve. A Pastor job is to pray for wellness period. Glad U not a Pastor. U was joking I know.”

Ultimately, Harvey advised the pastor to commit to having a date night with his wife at least once a month. And after he learned the pastor was in Los Angeles on business, Harvey decided to treat them to dinner at local Creole restaurant Harold & Belle’s that very night.
