A 31-year-old rapper and mother of six was tragically gunned down in her hometown of Tampa on Tuesday, Jan. 8, just before 11 p.m.
WFLA reports that Nina Ross Da Boss, real name Jimmiel Spillman-Ingram, was killed inside a vehicle with an unidentified male. The car crashed into a nearby home, and one of the bullets struck a house across the street.
Spillman-Ingram’s children range in ages from 11 years old to 2 months, and her mother-in-law Yolanda Baker said her thoughts are with them. She also suggested that her daughter in-law wasn’t the intended victim of the shooting and was just an innocent bystander.
“It just so happens that she was in the wrong place at the wrong time,” Baker explained. “It’s been so rough for me and my grandchildren. My heart is so torn, ’cause the tragedy of my grandchildren of what they have to go through now of losing their mother.”
In 2012 Spillman-Ingram released the mixtape “The Only Sh– Poppin'” on the music site DatPiff, which has 30,000 views. Her video for “Chiraq,” uploaded to YouTube in 2014, has almost 40,000 views.
After hearing the news of the shooting, people left various comments on the late rapper’s Instagram page, both fans and people who seemed to know her.
“It really hurts to keep losing friends,” someone wrote. “I’ll keep making music for you i know you loved music Fuck The Haters Whoever Took your life something gon’ happen to them karma will get them & they gotta face GOD what goes around comes around the good die young your family & kids in my prayers.”
