High School Athletic Director Jared Hensley Who Said ‘Girls Ruin Everything’ Put on Leave

A Chattanooga area high school has placed its athletic director and assistant principal on leave after video of the coach making disparaging remarks about female students.

“If you really want someone to blame, blame the girls ’cause [sic] they pretty much ruin everything,” Jared Hensley, athletic director at Soddy-Daisy High School, says in the clip. “They ruin the dress code. Ask Adam and Eve.”

Hensley’s comment came in response to male students’ outrage over part of the dress rules barring students from wearing athletic shorts to school, News Channel 5 reported. Students can face punishment or even detention for violating the rules.

Some students weren’t too happy about the dress code, however.

Hensley reportedly told the boys, “it’ll be like that the rest of your life.”

“Get used to it, keep your mouth shut, suck it up [and] follow the rules,” he added before warning students against public displays of affection.

Hamilton County Schools Superintendent Dr. Bryan Johnson released a statement Wednesday, saying the situation is under investigation.

“We hold our employees and our leaders to a high standard, and these comments do not match the high expectations we have for our employees,” Johnson wrote, calling Hensley’s remarks “inexcusable.” “We seek to prepare all children for success in life after high school and expect our employees to provide an atmosphere that will empower all children to reach their full potential.”
