In his youth, civil rights activist Julian Bond was an active freedom fighter, leading peaceful student protests against segregation throughout Atlanta. In 1960, Bond helped to form the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) and went on to win a seat in Georgia’s House of Representatives in 1967. He would later serve as president and co-founder of the Southern Poverty Law Center. Bond married Pamela Horowitz in 1990.
