Michelle Obama Meets Young Girl Who Admired Her and the Results Are Too Precious

The little girl who went viral for looking up in awe at Michelle Obama’s official portrait has met the former first lady.

Obama tweeted a video Tuesday, March 6 showing her dancing with 2-year-old Parker Curry.

“Parker, I’m so glad I had the chance to meet you today (and for the dance party)!” Obama said in the tweet of the pair bopping to Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off.” “Keep on dreaming big for yourself…and maybe one day I’ll proudly look up at a portrait of you!”

Parker drew widespread attention Thursday, March 1 when visitors at the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C. snapped her photo. Parker looked up in amazement the portrait commissioned by artist Amy Sherald. The youngster later told NBC Nightly News she saw “a queen” when she saw the painting.

“I was trying to get her to turn around so I could take a picture, but she wouldn’t cooperate,” her mother, Jessica Curry, told BuzzFeed News Friday, March 2. “She just wanted to stare at it. She was fascinated.”

“In the world we live in today, I’m just trying to raise a little girl who has opportunities to see women who look like her doing great things,” Curry added.”

The response to the Obama-Parker meeting has been a series of Twitter users gushing one after another.
