Don Lemon Slams Trump for Defending ‘Racist Behavior Over and Over Again’

Don Lemon has a harsh take on Donald Trump’s “Pocahontas” dig at Senator Elizabeth Warren. The “CNN Tonight” host described it as a racial slur that was “met with stunned silence” as Trump spoke to Navajo World War II veterans.

“Everyone in that room knew it was a racist slur directed at Senator Elizabeth Warren. How did they know that? It’s an insult the president loves slamming her with starting during the campaign.”

Indeed, there’s plenty of footage of Trump referring to Warren, who has previously claimed that she has Native American ancestry. That reference has been condemned by the National Congress of American Indians.

Yet Lemon explained that Trump’s attacks against non-white people are nothing new. Such attacks include the claim that there were “very fine people on both sides” during the Charlottesville attack and the claim that Barack Obama is likely not American. Still, the president has denied that he is racist or bigoted, but Lemon disagrees.

“Just because you say you’re not racist doesn’t make it so,” he said. “Especially if you say, do, and defend racist behavior over and over and over again. Especially if you have lost your credibility by telling countless lies, big and small.”

If the president’s history of spewing racist rhetoric is any indication, he won’t be slowing down on such remarks anytime soon.
