Armed protesters wearing tactical gear in Los Angeles, California were arrested for allegedly threatening to kill officers during a protest on Tuesday, Aug. 16.
According to CBS Los Angeles, the two men were walking around Century Boulevard between Yukon Avenue and Crenshaw Boulevard in Inglewood, California in military attire.
LAPD Deputy Chief Bob Green says the two men were armed “with what appeared to be assault rifles, body armor and Kevlar helmets.”
Footage from Tuesday night’s fracas shows the men walking around the street with their weapons.
Around midnight, Inglewood and Los Angeles Police engaged the two men. CBS Los Angeles reports that officers surrounded them but took no action. Instead, the police watched and followed the two.
The armed protesters allegedly made threats and taunted officers during the standoff.
In the video below, the two men express some outrage over recent cases of police brutality. One of the armed protesters says, “This is a peaceful protest,” in the YouTube clip.
However, police followed the men for hours until they stopped them on Lake View Terrace. The armed protesters were bloodied by a storm of rubber bullets in Wednesday’s arrest.
