Mom Who Slapped Son During Baltimore Unrest Gets Donations After House Fire Left Them Homeless

A Baltimore, Maryland mother — who punished her son on live television during the Baltimore unrest last year — has received scores of donations after a fire burned down their home.

According to Baltimore’s FOX 45 News, Toya Graham tells reporters that her son Michael accidentally burned down their home Saturday, Aug. 13.

Since then, the large family, which includes five children and a granddaughter, has stayed in a hotel.

Graham, who made national headlines last year, received nearly $7,000 in donations within 24 hours of creating a GoFundMe page.

“It’s a worry and it’s a relief,” says Graham of her family’s situation. “It’s a relief that I can lay my head to the pillow and all my children are here with me. I want to say thank you, because at the end of the day, you know that it’s good people out there. I’m very grateful.”
