You Won’t Believe Why Cops Harassed These Community Activists Who Are Cleaning Up Their Community

A group of Black Lives Matter activists in Fairfield, Alabama were told not to pick up trash in their town without a permit.

According to WIAT CBS 42, Black lives Matter activists  Richard A Rice, Mercutio Terrell Southall Sr., Mark Myles were out picking up trash July 29 when officers stopped and harassed them about.

In the town, trash pickup has become an issue primarily because of the failure of the town’s city council Fairfield Police Chief Nick Dyer asserts.

“The trash has been sitting and festering in the garbage cans, with water on the inside, rodents, scurrying back and forth in the community…maggots in the bags falling out,” Southall says to CBS 42.

These activists wanted to try and solve the issue by picking up trash on a rented U-Haul and drop it off elsewhere. However, random citizens could not do that without a permit.

“I will actually agree with [Chief Dyer] in that regard, there is a lot of corruption, no accountability, people just not doing what they’re supposed to do, which is represent the interest of the people,” Southall adds.

Dyer did not give the three men any citations for their charity.
