A Georgia State University student went missing after an Uber ride to her family’s home in Dacula, Georgia last Friday.
Monique Priester, 21, took an Uber to return home after studying with a group of friends at the GSU campus downtown.
According to reports by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Preister told her mother, Jacqueline VanLoo-Al Kush, that she was at the Atlanta campus and was planning to catch an Uber back to the family’s home in Dacula.
The AJC also reports that she had already taken an Uber from Gwinnett County to Georgia State earlier in the day.
“I’m panicked. I’m hoping that she’s safe,” VanLoo-Al Kush told Atlanta’s WSB-TV. “Don’t be dismissive just because of her age. Look at the entire circumstance.”
The cab service has released a statement saying that they would have to be subpoenaed to give up ride records.
The statement also says, “We are working directly with local law enforcement to provide any assistance or information that could help them locate Ms. Priester and get her safely home.”
Police also said they have no reason to suspect foul play. The video is a Monday WSB-TV report on the unfortunate incident.
