Following the protests at University of Missouri, Yale, and other campuses across the country, the hashtag #BlackOnCampus allowed for Black Twitter users to express their experiences of racial discrimination at our nation’s predominantly white institutions (PWIs) and show solidarity with those protesting similar conditions.

While sharing the unique cultural experience of this particular holiday among African-American families, Black Twitter shared the inside jokes that most Black followers could relate to. Tweets and memes covered everything to what is served at the holiday dinner table, to grandma’s reaction to compliments about her cooking. It was an entertaining way for Black people across social media to engage as one big family.
