
The Egyptian Lathe
The lathe was the fundamental instrument of ancient Egyptian machinery; it gave birth to every tool of machinery that we know of. According to Petrie, the lathe performed tasks that would be nearly impossible for today’s engineers and architects to perform. This tool was ahead of its time, as well as ours.
