Maya Angelou

Maya Angelou is a poet, writer, author, dancer, singer and actress.  She is best known for her autobiography I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings. Angelou recited her poem “On the Pulse of Morning” at the 1993 Presidential inauguration of Bill Clinton. As a sexual abuse survivor, Angelou was an inspiration to Black women all over the world. Always candid about her life, she regularly discussed how she she did things that many did not agree with and that she was not ashamed of any of it, making her a source of encouragement for Black women everywhere.
