Lamar reportedly told Hot 97 that Black people don’t support each other in the industry as much as they should.
“We’re in a music game where Black people don’t necessarily support the artist like they should,” the rapper said. “Period. Because we don’t believe in it like we should and then you wonder why country artist Taylor Swift can go out here and do these numbers because they believe it. And not even making it a numbers game. They wholeheartedly believe in what she’s doing.”
Barkley claims that Black people will never be truly successful because we do not support one another.
“Unfortunately, as I tell my white friends, we as Black people, we’re never going to be successful, not because of you white people, but because of other Black people,” he reportedly told a radio station in Philadelphia. “When you’re Black, you have to deal with so much crap in your life from other Black people. It’s a dirty, dark secret; I’m glad it’s coming out.”
The former NBA star’s support of Black people has also been called into question recently when he called the rioters in Ferguson, Missouri, “scumbags” in an interview with radio station 97.5 The Fanatic.
