There Has Always Been Racism

Some scholars argue that racism is innate, not learned, and has been a part of human history since time immemorial. Observations of babies expressing racial awareness is often cited as evidence.

Supporters of this theory believe racism stems out of a natural tendency for human beings to order and categorize the world and the people in it.  This is done by creating stereotypes on the basis of race, color, nationality, religion and other factors.

  1. Dennis Moore says:

Slavery grew out of natural greed and laziness of human beings, plain and simple. Humans want to collect the profits while someone else does the work. One can quote philosophically from now until forever, but for now, I will stick to my theory, greed and laziness, and that has no color.

You forgot Genesis 9:25-27. It is the MAJOR reason that racism exists today as it justifies the enslavement of the so-called "black" people who, by many tribal accounts in Africa, are the descendants of ancient Canaanites. Jewish literature is fraught with references to Canaan and Ham and their cursed "black" skin.

  5. The only curse about skin color in the bible was when gehazi.over in kings was cursed from his original color to lecherous white.that's the only color curse I've found in there

  6. And ham had more children besides Canaan whom Noah didn't curse.he was cursed because he uncovered his father's nakedness meaning he was having sex with his grandma.read in Leviticus where it explains about father's nakedness

Pamela Edwards Peace beloved. Please review what I have stated carefully. I said "Jewish literature is fraught with references to Canaan and Ham and their cursed "black" skin." This is because it is properly interpreting that the Canaanites were a cursed people, the people of Ham, who are falsely depicted as having black skin. To further prove this, we find so many references to the Canaanite origins of Africans along with European admission that they enslaved the people SOLELY off of the provisions of Gen. 9:25-27. To many historical references back up the fact that the enslaved Africans were the people of Canaan, HENCE, why they were enslaved by the European Christians.

“In St. Athanasius’s time, the Africans still said they were descended from the Canaanites; and it is said, that the Punic tongue was almost entirely the same with the Canaantish and Hebrew languages.” The new encyclopædia; or, Universal dictionary of arts and sciences" By Encyclopædia Perthensis, Newencyclopædia, pg. 639

"Ibn Khaldun gave the reason that was accepted why the Berbers were black complexioned. He writes, “Ham, having become black because of a curse pronounced against him by his father, fled to the Maghrib to hide in shame…. Berber, son of Kesloudjim [Casluhim], one of his descendants, left numerous posterity in the Maghrib” (Smith, 2003). “What happened to the ancient Libyans? Chasing sources across the Sahara from Herodotus to Ibn Khaldun,” Journal of World History Volume 14, Number 4, December 2003, p. 482.

“There were four sons of Ham, from whom sprang following nations. Cush, from whom the Ethiopians were begotten. Mesraim (i.e. Egypt), from whom the Egyptians are said to have risen. Put, from whom the Libyans – whence the river of Mauretania is called Put still today, and the whole region around it is called Puthensis. Finally Canaan, from whom descended the Africans and the Phoenicians and the ten tribes of Canaanites.” The Etymologies of Isidore of Seville (2006) pg. 193

“Among the descendants of Sudan, son of Kan'an [Canaan], are many nations, among them the Ishban, the Zanj, and many peoples that multiplied in the Maghrib, about 70 of them. They differ in their customs (af'al) and have kings. “ Taken from : the French translation of the Akbar al Zaman of the 11th century: L'Abrege des merveilles published 1898.

  8. Abba Lord says:

Pamela Edwards I have read those interpretations and they are false. If Noah was engaged with intercourse with his wife, Shem and Japheth would not have walked in their BACKWARDS to cover up Noah's naked body. We have long refuted false interpretation. Ham and Canaan are one. Ham, Noah, and Canaan, were not actual men, they are eponymous characters beloved. Peace.

  9. Michael Fox says:

We must not forget that Emitt Till was barely 14 years old when he was brutally beaten and his body weighted down with a piece of farm machinery tied around his neck with barbed wire and drop in in a lake. That typ of brutality committed by white Sounthern Christians is more than just biblical inspired segragation that kind of hate is what Presdient Obama was speaking about when he was criticized for the comments that he made while addressing the Christian breakfast 2 weeks ago. The Emitt Till murder was 1955 not 1000 years ago.

  10. Corey Jett says:

Huh….. us folks that are of African Descent dont be believing in all that in the Jewish/Christian Torah Bible. Our spirituality did not tell us anything about any curses of Ham or anyone else. When the invasion came so did this story. STOP IT!!!!

  11. Michael Fox Emmitt was a baby, just a baby and look at what they did to him for talking to that white thing and we turn around and do what? take up with that same white thing like she is something nice. how any Black person can wake up to the face of a white person in the morning, spits in the face of emmitt and our ancestors.

  12. looking at that pyramid sickens me. wasp? why isn't the name of the ones who control all the money, the media and the government itself, identifyed on that pyramid? this article is pure propaganda.

  13. Except that literally none of these are "Origins" as much as they are "Mechanisms". No mention of how discrimination tends to go from light to dark [Racism as a result of the almost universal fear of the unknown aka.. 'darkness' and how that influenced our categorization mechanisms]….but they demonized "whites" in a heartbeat….terrible read.

"A man of discernment said: The people of Iraq… do not come out with something between blonde, buff and blanched coloring, such as the infants dropped from the wombs of the women of the Slavs and others of similar light complexion; nor are they overdone in the womb until they are burned, so that the child comes out something between black, murky, malodorous, stinking, and crinkly-haired, with uneven limbs, deficient minds, and depraved passions, such as the Zanj, the Somali, and other blacks who resemble them. The Iraqis are neither half-baked dough nor burned crust but between the two."
    Ibn al-Faqih al-Hamadani, Mukhtasar Kitab al-Buldan, 903 AD.
