Nas is celebrating the 20-year anniversary of his groundbreaking debut album “Illmatic” this year, and his performance last night at Coachella made fans feel like they were back in the 90s. He performed some of his biggest hits from the album and to make the night extra special, Nas brought out fellow New York legend, and former foe, Jay Z. As reported by vibe.com:
“Nas continued the celebration of the 20th anniversary of his debut Illmatic last night (Apr. 12) at Day 2 of the 2014 Coachella Music & Arts Festival. Taking the stage to perform the classic album from its “The Genesis” start to its “Ain’t Hard To Tell” finish, Nasty Nas also had a colossal surprise in store for the audience. Mid-way through “The World Is Yours,” the Queens MC was joined by his former Brooklyn rap nemesis, Jay Z, who performed two classics of his own: “Dead Presidents” and “Where I’m From” before congratulating Nas on his album’s anniversary.”
Nas then continued to perform classics from “Illmatic” and surprised the crowd by bringing out Puff Daddy to help him perform “Hate Me Now.” Nas ultimately closed the show with a performance of his hit record “One Mic.”
