Pharrell’s latest hit single “Happy” almost always puts people in a great mood, and this was definitely true at last night’s Academy Awards. Pharrell dazzled the crowd with his song from the “Despicable Me 2” soundtrack, and had stars like Lupita Nyong’o, Jamie Foxx and Meryl Streep dancing alongside him.
“Pharrell Williams rocked out to “Happy” at the Oscars on Sunday, during which he went into the audience to shimmy — literally — with Lupita Nyong’o, Meryl Streep and Amy Adams in the front row.
“With a black version of his now-signature Vivienne Westwood hat, Williams crossed the stage in a track jacket, jeans and bright-red sneakers. As revealed during his earlier rehearsals, a choir of high school students and 20 professional dancers accompanied him on the Dolby Theatre stage. Jamie Foxx and his daughter Corinne also got in on the fun.”
Pharrell, who wore a tuxedo top and shorts on the red carpet, began trending on social media during his performance as he came on stage with his signature hat, having many people tweeting “The Hat Is Back”.
It’s great to see that Pharrell is back in the mainstream spotlight as he was in the early 2000s. He gears up to release a new album on Tuesday called GIRL.
