In an unbelievably ironic twist, promoters of the George Zimmerman celebrity boxing match claim that he wants to get in the ring with Kanye West because the rap star has a history of attacking defenseless people.
After DMX, The Game and Lindsay Lohan’s father all offered to get in the ring with Zimmerman, Trayvon Martin’s killer has selected the rapper he wants to duke it out with.
According to TMZ, promoters say that Zimmerman is furious over West’s record of attacking nosy photographers and men hurling racial slurs at his fiancee.
Zimmerman suddenly feels that attacking “defenseless people” is a crime that must not go unpunished, even if he has to take justice into his own hands.
Trayvon Martin was armed with a bag of Skittles and tea from the gas station when he was shot and killed by Zimmerman in 2012.
Promoters are so eager to get the hot-headed rapper and the former faux-neighborhood watch officer into the boxing ring that they are willing to move the fight to Los Angeles, if Kanye agrees.
While Kanye has yet to respond to the offer, The Game is still itching to take a few jabs at Zimmerman.
“I would not be boxing for me,” The Game said in an interview with TMZ last week. “I’d be boxing for the legacy of Trayvon Martin and for his family…I would box him to knock him out.”
He went on to say that he would definitely “take pleasure” in knocking out Zimmerman.
Rapper DMX gave a much more vulgar comment, threatening to urinate on acquitted murderer if he has the opportunity to get in the ring with him.
Meanwhile, Zimmerman took to Twitter to remind his opponents that he might not be such an easy target.
“Boxing isn’t new to me,” he tweeted a few days ago.
Zimmerman took up boxing before the Martin murder occurred.
In other words, Zimmerman had a gun and boxing experience under his belt when he killed the teenage boy out of alleged fear for his own life.
The celebrity boxing match is scheduled to take place March 1 if promoters manage to find the right opponent. They have also promised that all proceeds will go to charity.
