Earlier this week supermodel Naomi Campbell teamed up with half-Filipino photographer John-Paul Pietrus to take a few limited-edition print photos to help victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines. The natural disaster killed over 10,000 residents and left thousands more injured and displaced.
“I don’t think people realize the severity of the situation,” Pietrus told the Daily News from London. “It might help encourage people to donate if they get something in return. And a beautiful photo of Naomi, who’s an icon, is something I can produce.”
All proceeds from the prints signed by Pietrus will benefit the British Red Cross.
“I think she looks really peaceful, strong and calm, and that’s how I hope the victims can feel eventually, with our support,” Pietrus added.
It is unknown how much was raised through the efforts, sales closed on Thursday.
