Game Changer: Baltimore Ravens Sign Visanthe Shiancoe

The Baltimore Ravens have signed tight end Visanthe Shiancoe to a one-year contract. After the team lost tight end Dennis Pitta to dislocated hip for the remainder of the season, coach John Harbaugh announced their deal with the former New England Patriots player.

“Dennis is out for the year,” Harbaugh said. “It’s the type of thing he’s not going to be able to come back from this year. There’s enough damage in there.”

When asked if the tight end would be ready for next season, Harbaugh answered, “It would be really, really rare for something you couldn’t be back next year.”

Raven’s newly signed Shiancoe is a 10-year veteran. He will compete against Billy Bajema, undrafted rookie Matt Furstenburg and Alex Silvestro for the backup job behind Ed Dickson.
