Although some people, like Kristen Dunst, consider him a hippie cool dude with a nasty kiss, Brad Pitt has no qualms playing a violent bad ass character in a war movie.
The Inglorious Bastards actor, who also starred in the Fight Club and Kick Ass films, is currently in the final stages of negotiations for a lead role in the David Ayer-directed World War II thriller, Fury.
The film is set in Europe during the final days of the Third Reich. Pitt will play the leader of a five member team who mans a US tank named Fury. The crew battles a desperate German division facing almost certain defeat.
Of course this is not the first time Pitt is cast to take on the Germans. Inglorious Bastards saw him as leader of a Jewish retribution force tasked with eliminating leaders of the Third Reich.
Along with directing, Ayer’s also wrote the script himself, and plans on delivering a fresh and honest depiction of the battlefield heroics to modern audiences.
Fury is scheduled to begin production in September, but there is a lot of Brad Pitt to see before the film makes its way to theaters. He was recently seen in the crime drama Killing Them Softly — will next appear in Marc Forster’s zombie drama World War Z (Yet another war movie for the hippie) — followed by Ridley Scott’s The Counsellor and Steve McQueen’s Twelve Years A Slave.
