Shakira Shares Baby Photo For Charity

Shakira posted a baby photo of her new baby boy Milan on her UNICEF website and apparently the photo has more purpose than just showing how adorable he is.

Shakira’s baby photo shows the newborn boy resting in the arms of his father Gerard Pique who is gently kissing Milan on the cheek.

The two-week-old baby, who seems to be fast asleep, is making his first internet debut after his cautious parents refrained from posting pictures of him online.

Pique teased fans last week with a picture of the baby’s foot in an adorable customized sneaker, but the shot didn’t include anything past Milan’s chubby ankles.

This time everyone got a peak at the newborn’s brown hair and plump cheeks.

In addition to showing off her first born baby, she also hopes that by posting the picture she can help raise money for children living in poverty.

According to People, fans can gain access Shakira’s baby photo by making a donation of at least $5 to the couple’s UNICEF website.

She even used social media to urge her many Twitter followers to help support the charitable cause.

“Visit out @Unicef #Babyshower to see the 1st pic of my 2 angels & help underprivileged babies,” she tweeted.

The new “The Voice” coach also released a statement explaining that she hoped she would be able to help less privileged children through Milan’s name.

“We hope that, in his name, other less privileged children in the world can have their basic needs covered through gifts and donations,” Shakira and Pique said in a joint statement. “Thank you for sharing this unforgettable moment with us.”

Using her new born baby for such a worthy and selfless cause is only fitting considering the background of the baby boy’s name.

After sharing the sneak peek baby pic, she explained that Milan means “dear, loving, and gracious in Slavic; in Ancient Roman, eager and laborious; and in Sanskrit, unification.”

Looks like Shakira’s son is well on his way to becoming a philanthropist and he isn’t even one yet!
