For anyone who has seen the trailers for A Haunted House and the fifth installment of the Scary Movie franchise, you may have noticed a few similarities. Since the Scary Movie series was created by none other than Marlon Wayans, the creator of A Haunted House, it begs the question, why not just return to the series he started? But as Marlon put it in our recent interview with him, “When a marriage is over, it’s over. Who gets remarried?!”
A Haunted House follows a young couple, Malcolm and Kisha (played by Wayans and Essence Atkins), who move into their dream home, but soon learn that the house is possessed by demons. When Kisha is taken over by one of those demons, Malcolm is forced to enlist a priest, a psychic, and a team of ghost-busters – just so he can keep his sex life fully functional.
Along with Wayans and Atkins, the film also stars David Koechner, Affion Crockett, J.B. Smoove, and Cedric the Entertainer.
With all the controversy surrounding Django Unchained, we were interested in what Marlon had to say about Quentin Tarantino’s homage to the spaghetti western. “I’ll go see A Haunted House like 15 times, and maybe one of the times, I’ll buy a ticket for A Haunted House, and I’ll sneak into Django and watch it. But it’s just hard for me to say, Duh-Jango. So, y’all go see Djaunted House on Djanuary 11th.”
