The boys (and one girl) in blue are back! I was worried for a few moments, because the “narrator Smurf” gag at the beginning of this new trailer for The Smurfs 2 actually made me crack a smile. But then it went back to Hank Azaria embarrassing himself, silly substitutions of “smurf” for curse words, and other assorted lameities, and all was well.
The plot of the sequel to the 2011 adaptation of the bizarre comic book / 80’s cartoon has evil wizard Gargamel (Azaria) creating little Smurf-like things called Naughties as part of his plan to capture the Smurfs, for whatever reason it is he wants to do so. You can tell the Naughties are bad news because they wear dark clothes. Look at the female one! Her hair is dyed, the trollop!
I suppose if you have a grade schooler, they’ll be dragging you to see this, in which case, you have my sympathies. Look at the trailer and see what you’ll be in for. The Smurfs 2 comes out July 21st, 2013.
