'The Game's' Kenny Smith Jr. Hired to Write Bowling Comedy 'Rollin Thunder'

The Game’s Kenny Smith Jr. has just signed on to write the script for Maven Pictures’ Rollin Thunder.

According to Deadline, it’s a comedy about a bowling champ turned ex-con who sees in a city-wide bowling tournament, a chance to get back into the game he once loved. He’s also out to prove his innocence to the tycoon who owns Atlanta’s biggest bowling alley and mend bridges with his estranged teenage daughter.

Smith, who is best know for writing and directing BET’s series The Game, is planning on writing Rollin Thunder, as a hip hop musical-like film. His career spans from a production assistant on Martin Lawrence’s comedy Martin, to a writer for One on One and a story editor/writer for The Jamie Foxx Show.

Head of Universal Republic Records Monte Lipman, and Federal Films’ David Schulhof are on board to produce Rollin Thunder along with handling the soundtrack.
