Documentary 'LT: The Life And Times' of Lawrence Taylor's Crazy Life Coming Soon…

Showtime has announced the release of LT: The Life and Times, a two hour documentary film chronicling the Hall of Fame NFL career of Lawrence Taylor, as well as his hectic off-field life. This will be the first feature ever to take an in depth look at Taylor’s life, which include never-before-heard stories from Taylor, his family, his former teammates and coaches.

The legend’s infamous off-field activities and the troubling times have plagued him throughout his life. Taylor has lived a controversial lifestyle, during and after his playing career. He admitted to using drugs such as cocaine as early as his second year in the NFL, and was suspended several times by the league for failing drug tests. His drug abuse escalated after his retirement, and he was jailed three times for attempted drug possession. From 1998 to 2009, Taylor lived a sober, drug-free life. He worked as a color commentator on sporting events after his retirement, and pursued a career as an actor. His personal life came under public scrutiny in 2011 when he pleaded guilty to sexual misconduct involving a 16-year old girl(Wiki).

On Showtime’s INSIDE THE NFL, Taylor said of the documentary, “When they first approached me with it I said, ‘No way. I’m not going to do that. I’m not going to put my life on display.’ But hell, my life is already on display so I decided to go with it and see how it turns out.” He continued, “I’m looking forward to seeing (and) hearing some of the stories because a lot of the stories I don’t remember… It’s like anything else, football, you think that is your whole world but it’s not really.”

LT: The Life and Times will be directed and produced by CBS Sports. The document will be coming to Showtime in the beginning of 2013.
