Funeral services for Kile Glover, 11, will be held on Friday at Wieuca Road Baptist Church in Atlanta. Glover, child of Atlanta television executive Ryan Glover and Tameka Foster, was the stepson of R&B Superstar Usher Reymond, who was once married to Foster. Glover, who was struck by a personal watercraft on July 6 during an outing at Lake Lanier, passed away over the weekend.
Glover was riding in an inner tube being pulled by a pontoon boat during a group outing with family and friends, alongside a teenage friend. A member of the group, identified as Jeffery S. Hubbard, ran over the inner tube while riding a rented personal watercraft, leaving Glover in critical condition. Both children were flown to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston following the crash. Though the teenager was later released, Glover never regained consciousness. Hubbard could face criminal charges in the incident, according to Georgia’s Department of Natural Resources.
Prior to Glover’s passing, reports had surfaced claiming that Foster would be forced to take her son off of life support due to mounting medical costs and soon to expire medical coverage. Usher had been accused of not stepping forward to pay for the bills; however Glover had been designated as brain dead by doctors at the hospital.
Usher’s godfather, Broadway legend Ben Vereen, commented on the tragedy with the Huffington Post. “It’s a terrible thing when a parent has to bury their child. No parent should ever have to bury his or her child. I know because I buried one. So please continue your prayers for him and [his] family for strength and healing.”
Willie Watkins Funeral Home is responsible for the funeral arrangements, but has yet to release additional information regarding public services or visitations for Kile Glover. The service will begin at 11 a.m. on Peachtree Road in downtown Atlanta.
