Erin Andrews Ditches ESPN For Fox Sports

Sports reporter Erin Andrews has decided to leave ESPN and sign a multiyear deal with FOX Sports.

After her eight year contract expired, the Dancing With The Stars alum passed on an aggressive ESPN offer to extend her tenure at the sports network.

Andrews will now work for Fox Sports hosting a new 30-minute prime-time college football show, which premieres September 1st, before the network’s coverage of the Hawaii vs. USC football game. She also will be “making significant contributions” to Fox’s coverage of the NFL, MLB and other sports properties, according to Sports Illustrator, who broke the story.

The opportunity to have an expanded role in sports television was the main reasons why Andrews accepted the Fox Sports position. “It came down to having an expanded role,” Andrews said. “I attended the University of Florida and college football has been a religion for me. I worked hard the last eight to 10 years covering the sport. To be part of FOX’s college football coverage and to make it a destination is exciting. And to be included in NFL coverage is something I always dreamed of.”

Andrews most recently hosted the ESPN College Gameday preshow. She also covered Major League Baseball, the College World Series, and college basketball and football for the network. Besides appearing on ESPN, she also worked as a contributor to ABC’s Good Morning America and appeared on talk shows like Jimmy Kimmel Live! and The Tonight Show With Jay Leno. Erin Andrews is also known for her 2010 run on Dancing With The Stars where she earned third place among 11 other contestants.
