Halle Berry, recently spotted sporting a new longer and curly hairdo shopping with a friend, is trying to move to France—a decision that has added another layer onto her custody battle with Gabriel Aubry, model and father of her 4-year-old daughter Nahla. A judge recently rejected her request to move because that would mean the child would be 5,000 miles away from her father.
Berry says her primary reason for wanting to move is France’s laws against the paparazzi and privacy. “Yeah, there are laws like in France, which is the reason I want go there. Laws that protect children, protect right to privacy,” said Berry to Extra TV. “All I want is for my family and myself to have a normal life. When I’m not at work, that’s very important to me.”
Berry is more concerned about her daughter’s wellbeing than her own and says the issue is more serious than people think. “It’s not one photographer hiding in the bushes, it’s 20, 30 very close to us, causing commotion. I’m not complaining about me,” she continued. “I’m an adult; I can handle it. But children should not be subject to that. It’s just wrong.”
The “Monster’s Ball” actress has had her share of experiences with the paparazzi and she’s even had to deal with stalkers, one of which was seen on her property three times before he was arrested. Berry’s life isn’t all negativity, considering that she recently admitted to being engaged to actor Olivier Martinez. Berry famously swore off marriage after divorcing her second husband, singer Eric Benet—something she acknowledges. “I swore it off, right? Never say never, people,” said the actress.
