This week, Paramount Pictures will celebrate the birthday of arguably one of the greatest films ever made.
It has been 40 years since The Godfather has been released. To commemorate the big day, Paramount has announced that on March 1st (Thursday), 55 Cinemark XD auditoriums around the US will be showing the restored version of The Godfather.
According to sources, the movie has been “meticulously restored using 5.1 digital surround sound and re-mastered using state-of-the-art technology.”
Cinemark theaters will continue the celebration by showing The Godfather Part II on XD screens on April 19th.
James Meredith, The VP of marketing and communication at Cinemark said, “There is no greater iconic film than The Godfather. It has set the standard for story-telling, launched a generation of great actors, and provided movie-goers an unparalleled experience.”
The Godfather, which is an American epic crime film based on the 1969 novel by Mario Puzo, won three Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Actor (Marlon Brando) and Best Adapted Screenplay. It was directed by Francis Ford Coppola and has made nearly $250 million at the global box office. Many movie goers consider this film as one of the greatest of all time.
Paramount originally released The Godfather on March 24, 1972.
