As promised, Sacha Baron Cohen showed up at on the Oscars’ red carpet with craziness Sunday night. At the event, The Dictator played a trick on E! host Ryan Seacrest.
The actor was originally dis-invited by the academy. The organizers changed their minds and allowed Baron Cohen to attend the ceremony acting as Moammar Gadhafi, the character he plays in his upcoming film, The Dictator. While on the carpet, he displayed his funny style of publicity stunt and comedy.
This is were it gets crazy!
Walking with two flower girls, he carried an urn with the ashes of the late North Korean dictator Kim Jong Il, whose image was displayed on the gold can.
While Baron Cohen was being interviewed by Seacrest he mentioned that it was Jong Il’s dream “to be sprinkled over the red carpet and over Halle Berry’s chest.” Then, as Seacrest looked away, he spilled the ashes over the interviewer’s tuxedo.
Seacrest looked rattled as he attempted to wipe himself off.
After the stunt, security pushed Baron Cohen away as Seacrest tried to cut to commercial, but his E! colleagues kept the cameras rolling. Thereafter, it became the most popular topic on Twitter.
When the ashes was dusted off, Seacrest showed that he was a good sport about the prank saying, “Anything can happen and it most certainly did, all over my lapel.”
