Hello and thank you for checking out my recipe. I was briefly introduced last week and am so excited to share my recipes with you. My name is Crystal Channing and I run www.margaritasontherocks.com. Christmas is approaching and I couldn’t be more excited! During the Christmas holiday, I love to bake for my friends and family. My favorite baked goods would have to be cupcakes, cookies, and cinnamon rolls. This year I decided to put a twist on my old cinnamon roll recipe by adding the flavor of gingerbread. I mean how can gingerbread + cinnamon rolls be bad? right?! My thoughts exactly lol. I made this recipe twice to make sure I had the perfect taste for these rolls.

They are super moist and pair so well with the molasses cream cheese frosting. They literally melt in your mouth and the flavor is perfect. My husband has pretty much eaten about 80% of the rolls all by himself….BUT in his defense, he does have a serious sweet tooth lol. This recipe makes 16 rolls which are perfect for an upcoming holiday potluck or as a sweet treat for a holiday brunch or breakfast. There is no way anyone can resist this treat or just have one. Trust me…I speak from experience. What is your favorite dish to bake during the holidays? Answer in the comments below!

    Instructions
    1. Activate your yeast by adding active dry yeast to 1/4 cup of luke warm water with a tsp of granulated sugar. Set aside and allow to activate. (Activation occurs once yeast begins to foam)
    2. In a large bowl add all purpose flour, salt, cinnamon, and cinnamon. Mix until well combined.
    3. In a seperate bowl add milk, egg, vanilla extract, molasses, and melted butter. Mix until well combined.
    4. Add half of the flour mixture to the bowl of wet ingredients along with the activated yeast. Mix until well combined.
    5. Add the second half of the flour mixture and mix until well combined.
    6. Turn out dough onto a floured surface. Knead dough with 1/4 cup of all purpose flour. This will help is your dough is sticky.
    7. Knead dough for 8-10 minutes. Place dough in a greased bowl and cover with saran wrap for 2 hours to allow dough to rise.
    8. Punch dough to release air and place on a floured surface. Use a rolling pin to roll dough into the shape of a 9x13 inch baking pan.
    9. In a small bowl add granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, and ginger. Mix until well combined.
    10. Add room temperature butter to the flat rolled dough. Make sure to cover the entire surface with butter. Next add the sugar mixture to the entire surface.
    11. Begin rolling the dough to form your rolls. I suggest rolling from the longer end. Make sure to roll tightly to keep the sugar mixture in.
    12. Cut the rolled dough into 16 rolls. Place in a greased baking dish and cover with saran wrap. Set aside for 1 hour and allow dough to rise.
    13. In a separate bowl add cream cheese, confectioner sugar, vanilla extract, milk, butter, and molasses. Mix together until smooth. Be sure to add milk slowly to avoid thinning the frosting too much.
    14. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Bake rolls for 18-20 minutes.
    15. Remove baked rolls from the oven and allow to cool slightly before adding the cream cheese frosting. Serve immediately and Enjoy!
