T-Boz has some harsh words for female artists following in the footsteps of TLC. The “Waterfalls” singer spoke with ThisIsMax.net while in London for the MOBO Awards and apparently left her restraint back in the states as she tore into Rihanna and Nicki Minaj. In the two minute teaser released T-Boz comments on the current wave of female talent in R&B and hip hop, or perhaps the lack there of.
“Just because you’re on TV gyrating and boning and sucking penises, it’s not talent, honey. Maybe in the porn industry, but over here, we entertain,” she said of new hyper sexualized acts.
“I don’t respect half the people I’ve seen lately. How the hell is she gonna tell me what I should be doing when her ass can’t even sing. Why is she there? And the, now they’ve got rappers that don’t even sing judging? So, this is totally based off of popularity I guess. I mean, to each their own. Get your money, honey. All I’m saying is, I will never watch [your] shows again.”
Minaj doesn’t seem to be making any friends among the industry’s older generation, as she continues to fight off rumors of drama with American Idol co-host Mariah Carey. According to E! Online, Minaj is open to the possibility of performing with Carey on Idol should the opportunity arrive. Nicki is currently promoting her three-part reality special Nicki Minaj: My Truth which began airing on E! last Sunday. Set in the midst of American Idol tapings and preparation for the release of her album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded: The Re-Up later this month, Minaj sees the show as an opportunity to show her fans what lies beyond her pop persona.
“Even when I’m doing things like changing wigs or looking raggedy, fans have never seen that. It’s real,” she told E!’s Marc Malkin. “I’m going to tell the truth about a lot of things. There’s a lot of wrong things said about me that I don’t usually say anything about, but now I am.”
