Ladies, get your tissues ready. Nicholas Sparks, the mastermind behind The Notebook and Dear John has done it again with Safe Haven. Julianne Hough and Josh Duhamel star in this new love story. Hough plays a mysterious damsel in distress who seems to be running from the law. She finds temporary solace in a small town. She tries to resist but ultimately falls for Duhamel as a steamy small-town dad. Choc full of romantic gooeyness and heavy drama, like all Nicholas Sparks books are, it’s sure to draw a huge female fan base and a few boyfriends who are forced to see it.
I firmly believe Josh Duhamel isn’t in nearly enough movies. With a face (and body) like that he should be on screen as much as possible. He seems charming as a single dad and I fully support the shirtless scenes. I’m also finding it fun watching Hough rise from a Harry Potter extra to a dancer with the stars all the way to Footloose and Rock of Ages. It looks like she’s putting more distance between her and dance and taking acting more seriously. Ill let you be the judge on if that’s a good idea or not. I also can’t help but wonder if Ryan Seacrest approves of her haircut for this role.
Since it is a Sparks adaptation the plot is certainly more convoluted than the trailer lets on, but enjoy this teaser for yourself.
