Wakanda’s Princess Shuri Lands Own Marvel Comic Series

Nigerian-American author Nnedi Okorafor and writer of “Black Panther: Long Live the King” tweeted a delightful surprise for Black Panther fans. Her new comic book will be based on Shuri.

Okorafor tweeted, “Announcement: I’m writing Shuri. Black Panther‘s Sister Shuri Is Getting Her Own Comic Book Series & It’s Happening So, So Soon.”

According to Colorlines, Shuri is the upcoming comic book that follows the Wakanda princess after her brother King T’Challa disappears on a mission to space.

Marvel also confirmed the news announcing their plans to release the comic in October.

Okorafor heaped praises on the character responsible for keeping her brother T’Challa in the latest technology. “[Shuri is] a young African woman of genius-level intelligence who is obsessed with technology and has traveled spiritually so far into the past that she’s seen Wakanda before it was Wakanda,” the writer told Bustle. She continued, “The Ancestors call her Ancient Future. And she’s super ambitious. What do I love about her? Alllll that and more..”

Naturally, fans are excited about the upcoming comic brook,

“Oh thanks. Now I’ve gotta increase my comic book budget. But it is so worth it!”
