Texas County Deputy Chiding Folks for Hating the Police In Viral Video Gets Fired, Launches GoFundMe

A Henderson County deputy is out of a job after a video rant he recorded went viral.

Senior Sheriff’s Deputy Keon Mack was relieved of duty last week after the department learned of the profane video he recorded while in uniform in his patrol car, according to police news site Blue Lives Matter. Mack, 30, who had worked for the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office for nearly six years, shared the clip on Instagram where it’s been viewed more than 118,000 times.

“I’m fixin’ to go hit this 12-hour shift,” he starts off. “But uh, real talk man — everybody wanna say ‘f–k the police,’ man. Say – f–k you!”

“S–t, every time Pookie Earl hit the goddamn wet stick and he come in the house trippin’ on a go upside ya head, you wanna call me,” he continues. “Got the audacity to say f–k me, no f–k you man, sh-t. I ain’t got time to be fighting his naked ass.”

The ousted deputy proceeds to rant, complaining that Tasers don’t always work on unruly suspects, so sometimes he’s got to “square up with the muthaf—a.”

In an interview with Blue Lives Matter, Henderson said he made the video to show he’s the same person whether he’s in uniform and on duty or not.

“I just wanted to let people know – you know, everybody that hates the police – especially the Black community who looks at us like we’re siding with the oppressors,” he explained. “My whole point of the video was ‘look I’m a normal guy. Even though you guys swear you hate us, you still call us – even in the craziest of situations. Don’t hate us – we’re here for you. I’m a normal guy and I’m here for you on a daily basis.”

That message went straight over Sheriff Botie Hillhouse’s head, however. Hillhouse called Mack’s video “disrespectful” and said it violated several departmental policies.

“In this county, we work well together with our citizens,” the sheriff told Blue Lives Matter. “…They take care of us. Just because you have one call with a bad response to a situation, that’s not the time to go off. We need to remember the folks we’re out here doing the job for every day. That’s who we’re working for.”

Mack has since launched a GoFundMe page titled “They Fired My A$$” asking for donations while he’s out of work. The campaign has collected just over $800 thus far.
