A proud African mother went viral on social media after she posted a heartfelt message to her adorable son on Instagram.
Joha Mubayiwa, who’s the stunning mom of baby Elijah shared endearing pictures of she and the family on her social media page, but one photo in particular with the mother celebrating her son’s gorgeous Black skin caught the Internet’s eye.
Mubayiwa wrote,” My dear son, I pray that you always find your skin beautiful even when you are surrounded by those who tell you otherwise, i pray you never have to surround yourself with people who demean and laugh at your beauty.”
Social media users immediately flooded her comments and complimented the mother on her gorgeous family and her genuine love for Elijah.
Farahnazgholizadeh wrote, “Amen! As a mum be sure the best is coming to you and your son. Being positive and clever is enough to make a better situation in our life. God bless you.”

The mother’s message resonated with countless people who’ve been told that darker melaninated skin does not fit within the “standard” of beauty. Colorism continues to be an ongoing issue in the Black community whether in Latin America, Africa or the United States, but Mubayiwa’s message encourages parents all around the world to celebrate their children’s beautiful Black skin.
