Raven-Symoné Named ‘Donkey Of the Day’ for Slamming T.I., Diddy, and the Like

Charlamagne Tha God thinks Raven-Symoné shouldn’t judge famous MCs for who they were in the past. The radio host took aim at the Disney Channel actress after she reposted (and then deleted) a meme which slammed the likes of Diddy, Jay-Z and T.I. for “murdering other Black men and disrespecting Black women.”

However, Charlamagne’s first criticism went toward Arrested Development’s Speech, whose page Raven shared the meme from.

“First of all you stereotyped and profiled a whole group of Black men based off the lyrical content of a few of the brothers in the picture,” Charlamagne says Monday, Feb. 5.

Yet it’s Raven-Symoné who is granted with the “Donkey of the Day” title.

“People change,” he says. “The people in that picture have grown and evolved right before our eyes so why are we still judging them off the sins of their past? Raven-Symoné, what if everywhere you went, people still called you Oliva Kendall? What if people disregarded everything you did after ‘The Cosby Show?’ What if they disregarded ‘That’s So Raven,’ ‘The View,’ ‘Empire,’ the albums you were putting out — even though they should — everything and just referred to you as Olivia Kendall? Wouldn’t you be annoyed that people aren’t acknowledging your growth and only acknowledging you as Denise’s stepchild and Martin’s daughter?”

Charlamagne concluded that while the rappers pictured used to disrespect women and rap about murder in their music, they are now releasing more positive content. Plus, he noted that it’s easy to tout perfection on Instagram and “judge others as if your bleep don’t stink.”

“And for Raven-Symoné and whoever else like to judge other people for the sins of their past, always remember that making mistakes is way better than faking perfections,” he says.

Yet listeners are wondering why Raven became the “Donkey of the Day” when it was Speech who posted the meme in the first place and fellow “Cosby” kid Malcolm-Jamal Warner was among the first to repost, too.
