Sharon Jones (May 4, 1956 – Nov. 18, 2016)
Soul and funk singer Sharon Jones died at age 60 years old after suffering a stroke, but her Dap-King’s bandmates blamed the election of Donald Trump for her passing. During her time with the Dap-Kings, the group became known for leading a revival of funk music the way it sounded in the ’60s and ’70s. The group earned a Grammy nomination for Best R&B Album for “Give the People What They Want.”
Otis Clay (Feb. 11, 1942 – Jan. 8, 2016)
Soul singer Otis Clay died at age 73 after a heart attack. The Blues Hall of Fame inductee’s hits included “Trying to Live My Life Without You” and “She’s About a Mover.”
