On Sept. 20, University City Charlotte, North Carolina man, Keith Lamont Scott, was shot by police around 4 p.m.
FOX 46 reports that police arrived at an apartment complex searching for a man with outstanding warrants.
However, officers approached Scott instead. They reportedly saw him exit his vehicle with a firearm on his person.
But, the victim’s brother told Fox 46 that the motorist was reading a book while waiting for his child to be dropped off from school.

According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, “[Scott] got out of the vehicle armed with a firearm and posed an imminent deadly threat to the officers who subsequently fired their weapon.”
He died shortly after arriving at Carolinas Medical Center.
However, Facebook user Lyric Scott refutes the officers’ claim, because the victim was her father.
In the hour-long video, she tells her followers that her father was unarmed and disabled.
Hours after the shooting, protesters took to the streets in search for answers.
Following the shooting, 26-year-old Black officer Brentley Vinson has been placed on paid administrative per department policy, reports WSOC-TV.
“… The Internal Affairs Bureau will conduct a separate, but parallel, investigation to determine whether CMPD policies and procedures were adhered to during the course of the incident.”
