After being fired in 2013, two former Northwest Prep Academy security guards in Memphis, Tennessee have filed a lawsuit claiming they lost their jobs because of their race.
According to FOX 6 News, Henry Todd and Richard Pinner, who are both white, confronted a 17-year-old pregnant teen in 2013 after she failed to follow instructions.
The two say the girl was eating before she started yelling and using profanity.
In the video footage, the guards are speaking to the student.
But a guard quickly grabs her arm as she walks away.
Then, the second officer comes over and forces the pregnant teen to the ground. At this point, she is flat on her belly when the footage stops.
While in court Monday, a teacher testified that the principal made a racial comment toward the guards.
She allegedly said, “If those white officers hurt my Black babies, I’m going to have them fired.”
However, the school’s principal denied ever saying that.
The trial is still ongoing.
