19-Year-Old Stabs Black Caterer After Wedding Reception Over Folding Chairs

A 19-year-old man has been arrested after stabbing a wedding caterer during the reception Sunday, Aug. 7, in Chantilly, Virginia.

According to NBC Washington, 35-year-old Tyonne Johns was working a wedding in Chantilly Sunday when 19-year-old Kempton Bonds stabbed her over folding chairs.

Fairfax County police said that Bonds was also working at the wedding. The 19-year-old was a seasonal worker for the park authority picking up trash and managing foldable chairs.

The two got into an altercation over the possession of the foldable chairs. Bonds insisted that the chairs belonged to the park authority. However, Johns said that the chairs belonged to the company she works for.

NBC Washington reports that the altercation resulted in Johns’ death.

Investigators found a 3-inch knife on Bonds’ person which they believed was used to stab Johns multiple times.

Since Sunday’s incident, Bonds has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder.

He is currently being held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center without bond.
