Watch: What These D.C. Tenants Did After Their Landlord Failed Them Should be the New Norm

In June, a group of 14 Washington D.C. renters bought a failing apartment building from their landlord to create a functioning cooperative and building for their families.

According to ABC7 News, residents in Northwest D.C. partnered with the non-profit organization Mi Casa to get loans to buy out the landlord after the owner’s inability to repair heating units.

Their hard work paid off when 14 families moved back into the 28-unit building.

This win comes after two years of renovations and living in temporary housing.
