KKK Leaders See Current Political Climate As Encouragement to Restore Organization to its Heyday

The Ku Klux Klan is riding the national rise of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump with hopes of increasing their membership this year.

According to the Associated Press, this year marks the KKK’s 150- year anniversary, and it wants to reshape itself for a new era.

In the news report, the current Klan has rules against preemptive violence on non-whites and only practices self-defense. However, the group still wants to promote white supremacy and stop immigration.

The clip reveals that many of the supporters have aligned themselves with Trump because they believe there is a national urge for their ideology to be implemented into law.

There are currently 3,000 KKK members nationwide, per the Associated Press.
