Game of Thrones explores a medieval-like fantasy world with its plethora of characters all struggling in the only game that matters—the game of thrones. An epic battle ensues among seven kingdoms and between two ruling families for control of the Iron Throne, the possession of which ensures survival through the 40-year winter to come. The series is an American epic fantasy television series created for HBO by David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. It is an adaptation of A Song of Ice and Fire, George R.R. Martin’s series of fantasy novels, the first of which is titled A Game of Thrones. The show premiered on HBO in the United States on April 17, 2011.
