A judge recently confirmed that rapper Ludacris will become the latest famous father to be granted full custody of his child.
Ludacris, whose real name is Chris Bridges, has been wrapped up in a legal battle with his former lover Tamika Fuller as he pushed for full custody of their daughter Cai Bella.
Their baby girl is only 13 months old.
Recently, several famous Black fathers, including Dwyane Wade and Usher, have been adamant about getting full custody of their little ones.
“After review of all the evidence, the testimony of the witnesses, the report of the guardian ad litem, and the claims made throughout this entire case, I am gratified that the judge found me to be the most fit and proper parent to have primary physical custody of our beautiful daughter,” Ludacris said in a statement to PEOPLE.
While he got the result he wanted, the legal battle did get nasty at times.
Reports revealed that Fuller accused Ludacris of trying to give her $10,000 if she got an abortion. She also told the judge that Ludacris’s quickie marriage to his longtime girlfriend Eudoxie was his way of convincing the judge that he had a stable household for the baby girl to grow up in.
The rapper has not publicly responded to the accusations.
It was over the holidays that the pair tied the knot the same day Ludacris proposed.
The Fast and Furious 7 star also has another daughter from a previous relationship.
He has a close bond with this 13-year-old daughter Karma and there doesn’t seem to be much tension between him and Karma’s mother.
It isn’t clear how the judge reached his decision but some would argue that it was a tougher decision to make than the Wade or Usher cases.
In both cases, the children’s mother had exhibited behavior that the general public found troubling.
Dwyane Wade’s ex-wife Siohvaughn Funches posed as a homeless woman and claimed her NBA star ex-husband was the reason she didn’t have a penny to her name.
It turned out that was far from true and at the time Wade was still shoveling out serious amounts of cash to help Funches with living expenses.
As for Usher’s ex-wife, Tameka Foster, her constant erratic behavior in the public eye was concerning and caused one psychologist to recommend that she might actually have a mental disorder.
