Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s Mother Survives Head-On Crash with Drunk Driver

Dwayne Johnson, better known to some as The Rock, took to social media to remind his followers to hug their families a little tighter after his mother and cousin survived what could have been a fatal head-on collision with a drunk driver.

Johnson shared a frightening image on Instagram on Sunday that showed the wreckage after his mother’s car accident.

The professional wrestler-turned-actor admitted that his first reaction was anger, but he realized he could make a teachable moment out of this.

“First reaction is to find the person who did this and do unrelenting harm to them,” he said on Instagram. “But then you realize the most important thing is my family lived thru this and we can hug each other that much tighter these days. Hug your own family tighter today and be grateful you can tell them you love them. #BearsHugsAndGratitude.”

He also took to Twitter to remind people that the crash could have been prevented if someone had not made the decision to drink and drive.

“My mom and cousin where hit head on by a drunk driver,” the tweet read along with an image of the crash. “They lived. This was 100% preventable. #ChoicesMatter.”

Johnson never detailed the injuries of his mother and cousin, but both women were immediately taken to the hospital.

They even made time for fun selfies while Johnson’s cousin, WWE wrestler Lina Fanene, was still in her hospital bed.

“We are a bunch of goof balls,” Fanene captioned the collage of pictures, which included an image of her playfully posing with her cousin in the hospital.

The tweets and Instagram posts also never revealed where the crash happened but Johnson’s mother, Ata Johnson, lives in the Orlando, Florida area.

While the 42-year-old Hercules actor just posted about the accident on Sunday, his cousin shared an image on Aug. 5, suggesting the accident happened last week.

In the image she is seen on a private plane with her arm in a sling with the caption, “Still all smiles! Very grateful to be alive for all the love from my family and friends! Incredibly blessed.”

As of Monday morning, there were no reports regarding the status of the drunk driver.
