If there is anything Sasha has in common with her fashionista mom, it’s setting some serious trends and getting statement pieces to sell out in an instant.
The 12-year-old fashionista in the making rocked a simple black sweater with an image of a unicorn printed on the front and despite the University of Maryland playing their hearts out against Oregon State on the court, it seemed like Sasha’s sweater stole everyone’s attention.
“Sasha’s sweater is a must have,” one user Tweeted during the game.
“Did anyone else see the pres daughter’s sweater? I’m hunting it down,” another user Tweeted before sharing a screen shot of her order confirmation page for the very same sweater.
Once it was revealed that the unicorn sweater actually came from ASOS, one of the First Lady’s favorites, the sweater sold out in a matter of minutes.
Fans of the sweater who didn’t get their hands on one of the playful pieces yet then aimed their tweets at ASOS, begging for them to restock the knit top.
The major retailer initially wouldn’t make any promises on whether or not the piece would be available again but after so much demand they announced in a new blog post that the sweater will be back in stock early next month.
Of course, with the holiday shopping season kicking off and the huge fashion frenzy surrounding the sweater, anyone who still wants the look should definitely stay up to date of when the shirt will be available again.
“After the youngest Obama, Sasha, wore a (sold out, boo) ASOS unicorn jumper to a basketball game.. the internet went crazy for it and demanded re-stock,” the blog post said. “Set your iCal and keep your eye on the ASOS Twitter feed for more updates. Skippidy-yippidy-unicorn-yay!”
Fashion frenzies like this are far from uncommon when it comes to the Obama ladies.
When Sasha wore a chic dress from ASOS to the White House Christmas Tree Lighting last year, it also sold out in a matter of minutes.
Her older sister, Malia, has also caused J.Crew to sell out of pieces almost every time she’s photographed in anything from the store.
Needless to say, the mother of the Obama clan has also caused consumers to rush to the registers to mimic her style. First Lady Michelle Obama caused major sell outs of designer dresses from Tracy Reese and Tory Burch and even a few designs from ASOS as well.
